Golden Rule Lodge no. 5
An International Lodge
“The Mountain Degree”
All Master Masons are cordially invited to attend our annual communication on Owl’s Head Mountain on June 21st 2014. The lodge will be opened rain or shine according to custom on the summit of the mountain, 2,425 feet above sea level at High Twelve or as soon thereafter as may be possible.
The work of the day will be to raise brothers from Lake Magog Lodge No. 55 of Magog, Que.and St. John’s Lodge No. 27 of Mansonville, Que., from the degree of a Fellowcraft to the sublime degree of a Master Mason.
Brethren, their ladies and families are invited to join the members of Golden Rule Lodge at a barbeque at the base of the mountain following the communication. Special Owl’s Head medals, souvenir caps, lodge histories, pins and coins will also be on sale.
If you are planning to attend as a Masonic body please contact us as soon as possible, as dispensations will be required. Dispensations will not be necessary for visiting brethren attending as individual Master Masons.
As the mountain is a ski resort, a chairlift will be available to bring visitors most of the way up the mountain. However, there is still a ten or twenty minute walk after disembarking the lift so brethren are reminded to wear sturdy footwear. Outdoor clothing appropriate to the weather conditions is recommended (casual), keeping in mind that the weather can be quite variable on the summit. Visiting Brethren are also reminded to bring their own Masonic clothing.
Owl’s Head Mountain is located in the heart of Quebec’s beautiful Eastern Townships, less than 1 ½ hours from Montreal. Directions to Owl’s Head from several major urban centres, including Toronto and Boston.
